The exhibition runs October 15-November 12 on Tuesdays-Fridays from 10am-5pm daily.
Our first exhibition of the year is a series of portraits exploring the idea of mental health. This exhibition is free to attend. Please bring along your smartphone and a pair of headphones/earphones if you have them.
David Maja comes from a background in traditional and digital advertising, with experience in traditional and digital copywriting, brand photography, film and storytelling.
His evolving artistic practice currently looks to inquire further into the complexities of mental health through photography. He is interested in using the stories of his images as a means to shift perspectives and contribute to varying conversations on mental health.
The opening will kick off with an artist talk and a mental health discussion led by Jessica Owoo, a Wellness Recovery Facilitator and registered mental nurse with five years of practitioner experience as a clinician.
She holds a Masters degree in Public Health (Social and Behavioural Sciences) from University Of Ghana and volunteers as a resource person to NGO'S and advocates for mental health and wellbeing.
Jessica is a member of Global Youth Mental Wellness Summit (GYMWS), a not-for-profit organization which seeks to support youth and young adults with active resources in order to achieve a balance with their mental health.
Currently, Jessica is a Staff member at Maamobi General Hospital Mental Unit (where she singlehandedly managed the Wellness Centre for two years), and also acts as a mentor, speaker and advocate on mental health, wellness and recovery with schools, church groups, organizations and corporate individuals.
